Dale Knaak: New works on paper
November 2 - December 14, 2019
Reception: November 2, 5-8pm with artist talk from 4-5pm
This new body of work is a synthesis of two basic disciplines of art: drawing and painting. The use of a paper support, as the title suggests, is the constant theme. The intimate nature of drawing creates the foundation of each piece and is an essential element of the finished surface, which merges the boundaries between drawing and painting.
Angle of Incidence : New Paintings by Dale Knaak
May 13 - June 17, 2017
The paintings in this exhibition directed his choices. Light, shadow and surface quality confined to the interior boundaries of the painting and a narrow timeline, were his only limitations. This work is the culmination of hours of solitary observation. Through the control of light, the arrangement of the objects and the making of his own paint Knaak immersed himself in the process. The drawing, perspective, application and subtraction of paint and color all hold equal importance in the end results.
