Milwaukee, Wisconsin (February 11, 2019) - The Frank Juarez Gallery is pleased to present "Dual Nature”, an exhibition featuring new work by Tony Conrad (WI) and Clint Fulkerson (ME).
In “Dual Nature,”the works of Conrad and Fulkerson clearly share an affinity to pattern as they reference various complex visual systems inspired by nature both physically and metaphorically. More importantly, the paintings and drawings in this exhibition are telling of two artists heavily concerned with process. Conrad’s pattern centric paintings exhibit a relentless commitment to the making and remaking of seemingly similar marks while evoking the nature of meditative states. Fulkerson’s hypnotic detailed disc drawings are influenced by science, math, and systems of organization which manifest a curiosity of an ever-evolving world.
This exhibition runs from March 16 – May 11, 2019, with areception on March 23 from 5-8pm. The Frank Juarez Gallery is located at 207 E. Buffalo Street, Ste. 600, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53202.
Tony Conrad received his MFA degree in painting and drawing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2009. Currently, Conrad is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Art at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. Conrad’s work has been exhibited throughout the United States in various solo, group, and invitational exhibitions and has won a number of awards including the Lawrence Rathsack Scholarship and the Frederick R. Layton Fellowship.
