Milwaukee, WI (May 7, 2017) — The Frank Juarez Gallery is pleased to present Angle of Incidence featuring new paintings by Dale Knaak. This will be Knaak’s second solo show with the gallery.

Join us on May 20 from 5-8pm for our artist reception. This exhibition runs from May 13 – June 14, 2017. The Frank Juarez Gallery is located at 207 E. Buffalo Street, Ste. 600, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53202.

Knaak’s works for this particular show focus on still life objects. Specifically, how light illuminates different surfaces. He had few preconceived ideas or thoughts of what it was that he wanted to do. The paintings directed his choices. Light, shadow and surface quality confined to the interior boundaries of the painting and a narrow timeline, were his only limitations. This work is the culmination of hours of solitary observation. Through the control of light, the arrangement of the objects and the making of his own paint Knaak immersed himself in the process. The drawing, perspective, application and subtraction of paint and color all hold equal importance in the end results.
